All About Me, Ms. P.
Welcome to the Spanish program at District 103! I am very excited to be studying Spanish with you this year at Half Day School!
My name is Señora Padron and I live in the city of Chicago. I grew up in Glenview with my family and my dog Gravy. Gravy loves cheese and taking walks through the park.
During the 2012-2013 school year, I lived in a city called Cartagena in Colombia, South America. You may have heard of pop singer Shakira and Modern Family actress Sophia Vagara. They are both from Cartagena's neighboring city called Barranquilla. Cartagena's other claim to fame is Justin Bieber who has a house there! The city is known for its beautiful beaches and its Caribbean heat! I spent the year teaching math and dance to 4th and 5th graders at Gimnasio Cartagena de Indias.
Before moving to Colombia, I taught Spanish at Cary-Grove High School. I graduated from Illinois State University with a degree in Spanish Teacher Education. Go Redbirds!
In addition to my love of Spanish, I also do theatre and sing in my free time. I have been in many musicals and continue doing community theatre whenever I can. My favorite color is aqua marine and my favorite dessert is chocolate cake!
I look forward to working with all of you this year and teaching you what I consider the most beautiful language in the world. Get ready for a fun filled, action packed, full immersion Spanish class. ¡Bienvenidos a la clase de español!
